A male optometry student who performed a sexual act in front of a female student in Aston University library in November 2006 has been struck off by a GOC fitness to practise panel.
Following the incident, Nathan Benjahman Hill, 26, of Great Barr, Birmingham was convicted of harassment on July 25 2007 at Birmingham Magistrates Court. He was given 150 hours' unpaid work as part of a 12-month Community Punishment and Rehabilitation Order.
Announcing the decision, GOC panel chair Margaret Hallendorff said the incident caused the young woman victim 'considerable distress'.
Hallendorff added: 'What is of particular concern was his lack of insight in his behaviour at the time and immediately after at the desk of the library where it was reported and where he continued to be in close proximity.
