A student optometrist, who allegedly terrorised female students at Aston University with threats of stabbing and mutilation has been suspended from the register for 12 months.

A student optometrist, who allegedly terrorised female students at Aston University with threats of stabbing and mutilation has been suspended from the register for 12 months.

The interim suspension order was imposed on Karampreet Singh Roewal, of Southall, West London, by a GOC fitness to practise committee, pending a full disciplinary hearing.

The panel heard that Aston University expelled Roewal on January 22, 2008 after he made a series of admissions to Lesley Price, the University's registrar and discipline officer.

Roewal enrolled on an optometry course at the university in September 2007, and started visiting the flat of a female student with another male student who was not studying optometry.
