Carl Zeiss Vision has introduced a new-generation Zeiss progressive lens, the Gradal Individual featuring EyeFit Technology. The lens is designed to give individualisation of the near zones, covering balanced, intermediate and near visual requirement profiles.
CZV said that optimised CORE Technology allowed increased consideration of the eye's centre of rotation for each wearer, which was particularly beneficial for high prescriptions.
The company claimed these were the thinnest Zeiss progressives, with the combination of the OPTIMA computer-assisted process with new thickness optimisation algorithms and optional order parameters for more flexible lens choice, such as automatic incorporation of the fitting height, inset on demand and variable base curves.
The new lens is a reaction to the fact that a third of consumers in industrialised countries are now over 50 and that the over-40s have an increased need for optimum near vision when using mobile phones and other high-tech gadgets.
CZV added that Gradal Individual EyeFit gave benefits of natural vision from far to near, maximum visual comfort with wider zone sizes depending on wearer profile and wearer acceptance through balancing of all visual zone sites. The individualised design also gave optimum cosmetic appearance with thin and light lenses. The lens, which is fitted like all Zeiss lenses and then optimised, can be teamed with i.Scription for higher contrast and crisper vision at night and in dim light.
