Les Rowland

Les Rowland, founder of Rands Optical Services, has died.

Rowland founded the company in the East End of London in the late 1940s, and ran it until his retirement in 1997. He was married for 59 years to Vera, whom he met when they both worked for the General Optical Company following the Second World War.

Their son, Keith, is also in the optical profession, being the owner of K Rowland, which has practices in the South East of England.
