Light and vision training on offer

Occupational therapists are being urged to access free online training designed to help them improve the lives of elderly people suffering sight loss.

The course, Light for Sight, has been put together by the Thomas Pocklington Trust and the College of Occupational Therapists. It is designed to help therapists recognise poor lighting and offer simple changes to improve vision.

Research director Sarah Buchanan said the course was the latest initiative to help people with sight loss. 'We hope that every occupational therapist will access the course and take its message into the homes of older people they may visit - that good lighting makes a difference by making the most of even low levels of vision.'
