The Macular Disease Society (MDS) is launching its first-ever awards initiative to reward allied health professionals, including optometrists, who have excelled in helping patients with macular disease.
The awards cover clinical services and rehabilitation, including services offered by optometrists in assisting patients get treatment for wet age-related macular disease quickly. Entrants can nominate themselves, or be nominated by a patient or a friend.
MDS chief executive Tom Bremridge said: 'There is a great deal of good practice, innovation and dedicated work involved in caring for and supporting people with macular disease.'
The closing date for entries is June 30 2009.
