Optometrists Sarah and Alex Gage (pictured) have been collecting unwanted spectacles for a charitable project in Mozambique next month.

Sheffield-based Alex Gage Optometrists is reglazing donations for the trip, which will help 700 orphans in Maputo. A team of eye specialists from the Sheffield Children's and Royal Hallamshire hospitals will spend a week investigating, diagnosing and treating a variety of eye conditions.
One of the volunteers told Optician: 'The service will also be used to help the local team to investigate the possibility of training their volunteers to assess the orphans' vision.'
