Specsavers has acquired the Finnish optical chain Tähti Optikko in a €15m deal from Kesko Corporation.
Specsavers claims to already have a 10 per cent share of the Finnish optical market after opening practices there nine months ago.
It will immediately assume ownership of Tähti Optikko's 31 company-owned stores as well as 'forging strategic partnerships with a high percentage of its 98 franchises'.
Specsavers' joint MD John Perkins said: 'This groundbreaking agreement with Tähti will enable us to expand our geographical reach across Finland and set our sights on becoming the country's leading optical brand in the space of two years.'
