In a deal with healthcare company Coronaria and its subsidiary Optigo, 16 stores currently trading as Optigo will be converted into Specsavers Optikko stores between July and October with further openings proposed in towns and cities throughout the country thereafter. The expansion into Finland follows the introduction of Specsavers stores in Sweden and Norway in 2004 and Denmark in 2005 and brings the company's total number of outlets to 835 in eight different countries. Specsavers chairman Doug Perkins said that the Specsavers model would revolutionise the Finnish optical market where customers are currently paying way over the odds for eye care.
