The importance of eye health was emphasised in more than 300 pieces of print and broadcast coverage and hundreds of events countrywide to mark National Eye Health Week (June 13-19).
As well as raising the importance of regular sight tests to the general public, a Parliamentary Reception took place at the House of Commons and was attended by 38 MPs. Organisers of NEHW impressed upon them the importance of eye health as a public health issue and to ensure that it is part of public health strategies at a local level.
Planning for NEHW 2012 has started. See updates at www.twitter.com/ICareEyeCare and www.visionmatters.org.uk
