New contender saves idea of London show

Just days after the collapse of The Eye Show, which had been scheduled to take place at London's Excel this week, an exhibition called 100% Optical has been announced for the same venue at a similar date next year.

The announcement, by exhibition organiser Media 10, was made at Frame, the pop-up exhibition hastily arranged following the demise of The Eye Show. Media 10 said 100% Optical would be an international show for the whole optical and ophthalmic sector and it anticipates 8,000 visitors could be attracted from around the world.

'London needs an optical event and we know that the industry has been crying out for an annual event on this scale for some time now,' said chief executive officer Lee Newton.
