The new PureVision Toric's aspheric anterior surface reduces spherical aberrations and the posterior toric surface corrects cylindrical error. The company said that in a clinical comparison of patients fitted with PureVision Toric contact lenses, patients had a significant reduction in spherical aberrations when compared to standard spectacle correction. It also offered 'proven design features of Europe's leading hydrogel toric lens, B&L's SofLens66 Toric' with a uniform midperipheral thickness at the apex, centre and base of the optic zone, anterior and posterior optic zone diameters adjusted to minimise variations in thickness and prism ballasting that stabilised geometry with a 360-degree comfort chamber. The additional benefits of the PureVision lens material included the ability to minimise dehydration for less dryness, while the Performa surface process contributed to comfort by helping to repel debris and protein deposits. The Purevision Toric can be worn as a daily, continuous wear or as a flexible wear lens. B&L Vision Care UK product manager John Doherty said: 'Now astigmatic patients will be able to enjoy the unsurpassed combination of healthy lens wear, outstanding comfort and excellent vision that wearers of PureVision single-vision contact lenses have come to enjoy.'
