Norville Group operations director John Lane has retired this month after 49 years with the lens company.

Lane said: ‘Although I can’t believe how quickly it’s come around, I retired from Norville after 49 years, this March. I want to say goodbye to all my many friends and contacts within optics. It’s going to be very strange after such a long time in such a fast moving business, working over the years with many kind and interesting individuals in England, Scotland and Wales, as well as Germany, France and The Netherlands specifically too.’
