Norville has employed a team of five redundant BBGR Manchester surfacing staff as part of the up-scaling of its Bolton laboratory to an extended shift operation.

Norville said it believed the up-scaling, which comes when more prescription lens production is moving overseas, would help it to deliver quality and quicker lens deliveries.

Chairman Frank Norville said: 'We are delighted to announce that we have been able to find positions for a complete team of redundant surfacing staff who bring with them a total of 103 years of surfacing experience. These new team members will bring an increased tempo to Bolton operations.'

The installation of extra equipment enables the resin surfacing capacity to be increased, supplemented by Weco robotic edging equipment.
