Awards entries have been flooding into the Optician office with the number of submissions up over 100 per cent on last year.

Leading the rush to secure a coveted Optician Award are independent practices and optical professionals. The Awards website received 28 successful applications for the Independent Practice of the Year. The Multiple Practice of the Year Award received just under a dozen entries.

The professional categories have also fared well. The outstanding Dispensing Optician of the Year Award sponsored by BBGR saw 12 successful entries while the Outstanding Optometrist of the Year Award received entries from 19 professionals. There was also strong support for the Technology Practice of the Year Award sponsored by Grafton Optical, the Healthy Sight Practice of the Year Award sponsored by Transitions and the Contribution to CET Award sponsored by D&A.

Over the next week shortlists will be drawn up and additional information requested from the successful candidates. The Awards presentation will be made at a gala dinner at the Hilton, Park Lane, London on April 19.
