Oakley advances are sports-specific

Oakley has brought out a number of new sports-specific models this year. The new M frame (pictured) features updated lens technology for further visual clarity in a number of sports-related and weather conditions. It offers a three-point fit and full UV protection. There is a choice of four interchangeable lens shapes, Heater, Sweep, New Hybrid and Strike, each available in a number of colours. The lenses also come in prescription form.

Every M frame can be customised with assorted 'Unobtainium' earsocks and nosepieces to match or contrast the chosen frame colour. Oakley's Slash earsock and foam kit is also available to provide an integrated skull strap. The frames come complete with a floatable hard case. For golfers, the company has brought out new Zeros. Oakley has improved the original Zero by arcing the earstems closer to the skull and streamlining the frame with an integrated, asymmetrical hinge. A low-profile nosepiece and open-edge lenses allow the golfer to address the ball without craning the neck. Larger earsocks enhance comfort, says the company, and increase grip with perspiration. The frame comes with additional lenses, from VR50, which boosts contrast under cloud cover, to Gold Iridium, which optimises clarity in hard light. For snow sports, Oakley has brought out the A and the O frame. The A Frame features dual lenses to optimise a full field of peripheral clarity. The frame is made of flexible urethane and includes ram-air surge ports which allow for a circular flow of fog-cutting ventilation. A triple layer of face foam insulates and cushions the face, and lenses can be changed for different conditions. Snow goggle, the new O Frame, features a conical urethane frame which offers wearers enhanced peripheral and downward vision. The frame's Lexan lens eradicates glare, distortion and UV, according to Oakley. - Contact Oakley on 01462 475400
