Optometrist Hedley Lacey died on February 4, after a brave fight against illness.
A member of Dorset LOC for more than 14 years until he resigned due to ill health in March 2008, Lacey qualified in 1980 and opened a practice in Westbourne in 1996.
He attained the Diploma in Clinical Optometry from City University and was also carrying out clinical research towards a higher degree. Despite his illness he managed to complete a certificate in diabetic retinopathy screening.
Having won the Optician award for Technology Practice of the Year in 2004, Lacey was also shortlisted for Outstanding Optometrist of the Year in the 2005 awards.
