Optometrist Peter Maurice Braddy passed away at the beginning of December aged 82 following a short illness.
A tribute sent to Optician said he was well known to generations of optometrists and dispensing opticians from his work in south London practices, especially in Bexley Heath where he supervised pre-registration optometrists.
Soon after qualifying in 1955/6, he was called up to do his National Service – and spent two years as an army optometrist. After leaving the forces, he worked for Hudson Verity Opticians, initially in Victoria, Central London.
When Hudson Verity and Dollond & Aitchison amalgamated, he was invited to be a regional director and was subsequently appointed as regional general manager of the Dollond & Aitchison London region during the mid-1980s. He subsequently returned to his first love, being in practice, until retirement, a statement added.
