Dispensing opticians and optometrists are being called upon by the organisers of the London Olympics to assist with services such as eye examinations, contact lens fittings, spectacle repairs and minor ocular first aid procedures at the 2012 Games and Paralympics.

Olympic village

Volunteers must be available for a minimum of 10 days between July 27 and August 12 2012, or August 29 to September 9 2012 for the Paralympics, and have GOC registration and indemnity insurance.

Applications must be sent before midnight on October 27 and can be made through the London 2012 website www.london2012.com/get-involved/volunteer/
