Opening Eyes directors Paul Adler and Ann Duignan would like to recruit 200 or more optometrists and students to volunteer their professional services. A continuing education seminar will be offered prior to the screening and Special Olympics UK will provide accommodation and (some) meals during the event. There will be over 2,500 athletes competing in the Games and we need two teams of 100 volunteers, each team will screen for two days (we expect to screen for four days in total). This is an exciting opportunity to participate in a programme that gives the volunteers as much as it gives the athletes - for the optometrists and students it provides vast clinical experience and many describe it as the most rewarding work of their professional career. Please contact Paul (01642 732393 paul@eyezone.co.uk) or Ann (01952 812820 ann@duignan-optometry.co.uk) and an information pack will be forwarded. We also need sponsorship from individuals and companies and would be grateful for responses from anyone in the optical industry who feels they can help in this venture. Help us to make the Special Olympics Opening Eyes programme a resounding success. Ann Duignan Newport, Shropshire Paul Adler Stotfold, Herts
