OO receives fellowship for VAO charity work

Retired optometrist Nigel Horrocks has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by Rotary Club of Kingston upon Thames in recognition of his work with VAO.

Retired optometrist Nigel Horrocks has been awarded a Paul Harris Fellowship by Rotary Club of Kingston upon Thames in recognition of his work with VAO.

The fellowship, established in 1957, is the highest award Rotary can bestow. Horrocks has been on four VAO projects in Zambia, Latvia and Uganda as a team member and has represented the charity on three further overseas trips.

He has served on the Overseas Project Committee and is country leader for Zambia and the Prison Fellowship International projects. Horrocks also assists with the Specsort scheme and acts as a technical expert on optical matters.

VAO's Tym Marsh said: 'I am delighted that Nigel has been awarded the Paul Harris Fellowship. He iPaul Harriss a tireless VAO volunteer and his contributions, both at home and overseas, have greatly forwarded the aims of the charity.
