An optometrist from Manchester-based Robert Glass Opticians is to visit Uganda next month on a sight-saving mission with UK charity, Vision Aid Overseas.
It will be Cara McAllister's second trip to the East African country where she, along with six others, aim to help needy patients, some of whom travel for days to receive treatment. The team hopes to help in excess of 1,000 people during their two-week stay.
McAllister hopes to see some of the same people she helped on her last trip. She plans to collect old, unwanted glasses from the patients of the Longsight and Cheetham Hill practices, and to raise £600 to fund part of her trip.
