Children in Uganda have been sent 1,000 story books that detect vision issues by optical chain Optical Express.
It donated the Eye See a Dragon in the Glen books to Milton Keynes-based charity LightForce International for distribution throughout northern Uganda. The book, which was released last August, has been validated by Glasgow Caledonian University Vision Science Team to incorporate visual acuity and suppression tests.
Optical Express clinical director Dasi Raju, pictured with Ray Bowker from LightForce International, said: ‘Early detection of vision issues among children has traditionally been a real challenge, particularly in developing countries, so it is important that as many children as possible have access to a resource like this.’
