Optical Express has offered General Optical Council-registered practitioners and students complimentary intraocular lens (IOL) surgery until the end of 2014.
The offer follows a similar promotion in 2013 which saw the multiple perform almost 1,000 free laser eye procedures on optical professionals part of what company said was an effort to educate the ophthalmic industry on the benefits of the surgery.
Dr Steve Schallhorn, chief medical director and chairman of the Optical Express International Medical Advisory Board, said: ‘We believe it is vitally important that ophthalmologists, optometrists, contact lens opticians and dispensing opticians are fully informed about this increasingly popular alternative to spectacles, contact lenses and laser eye surgery as not only a treatment for cataracts, but also as an alternative vision correction solution.’
