Optical Express states aim to double in size

Optical Express is launching a massive recruitment campaign to find 1,000 optometrists, dispensing opticians, optical assistants and laser counsellors in readiness for a market share push that will see a doubling in its number of practices.

Chairman and chief executive officer, David Moulsdale, said: 'The pace of growth within our laser and intraocular lens business, plus continued expansion of the Optical Express core retail store base, have outstripped the rate at which we have grown our human resources. At present, we have approximately 4 per cent of the UK optical retail market but envisage this growing to in excess of 10 per cent, so career opportunities within the group are unprecedented.'
