Contact lens and dispensing optician Graham Webster recently marked 50 years in optics.

Webster left school in 1965 and joined Alfred Hawes and Son before embarking on a five-year day release dispensing and contact lens course at City College. He went on to become manager of the Marylebone High Street practice before moving to Surrey in 1983, when he became manager of CL Dyer in Redhill.

Staying in Surrey, he took a manager position at Gregory & Seeley in Cranleigh in 1997, where he has remained. Webster was keen to point out that he had no plans of retiring any time soon, but did say that he now intended to work part-time in the practice.
