Dr Cindy Tromans has been appointed as the next chairman of the board of trustees at the College of Optometrists. It follows a decision that the role of chairman should be separated from that of vice president instead of the current combined role. Dr Tromans, also president of the College, will take up this voluntary position following an AGM in March.

A fresh uptake for the Spectacle Makers' Company's Level 2 Optical Customer Service Course has included representatives from Lenstec, Maui Jim, Norville, Optisoft, Rodenstock and Seiko, a statement said. Starting dates for the course fall this month and in May, either in London or Gloucester. Organisers said new locations could be added where eight or more applicants could be found. The course was developed in conjunction with the FMO. To find out more email sfisher@fmo.co.uk or call 020 7298 5123.
