Specsavers has announced the departure of its chief information officer John Lister for personal reasons. Lister spent three years at the multiple and oversaw the transition of its IT team from cramped offices in Eastleigh to a new building in Southampton. He also helped establish Specsavers' offshore testing and development capabilities. Lister's role will be covered by chief financial officer Paul Fussey until a replacement is found.
A Suffolk man left with 10 per cent vision in one eye after a local hospital failed to react correctly to changes in his keratoconus has received a £200,000 settlement. The hospital was alleged to have advised the use of steroid eye drops for longer than was appropriate after a change in the patient's eye pressure. The man then developed glaucoma and required corrective surgery.
