A recruitment campaign has been launched by the GOC to appoint a DO for its investigation committee - which analyses allegations about registrants and decides whether further action is required. Committees meet 10 times a year in London and members must also set aside another day beforehand for reading. A day's attendance fee and a reading fee are paid for each meeting as well as expenses. The closing date is May 20.

British variable focus eyewear maker Adlens won a bronze prize for its Emergensee spectacles in the Lifestyle and Social Impact category at the Edison Awards. Adlens director of industry affairs Dr Graeme MacKenzie said it was an honour to receive the award: 'This award is a wonderful validation of the beliefs espoused by our co-founder, James Chen, that the commercialisation of innovative technologies holds tremendous potential to bring about social transformation.'
