A series of free training sessions for supervisors has been scheduled by the College of Optometrists. Current and perspective supervisors are invited to attend events in London, York, Birmingham and Bristol in May. The College has also added online videos on supervision, with completion of multiple-choice questions to become a requirement for those looking to become College-approved supervisors from June. Current supervisors would also have to complete online training within three years.
Specsavers has renewed its sponsorship of Road Safety Week, which this year will run from November 18-24, and has vowed to lobby for tighter drivers' vision rules. Paul Carroll, director of professional services at Specsavers, added: 'This year we will also work with a number of governing bodies and driving organisations to push for all drivers to have regular eye examinations, or at the very least to provide evidence of an eye examination when renewing their driving licence.'
