An optometrist with a fear of heights confronted them head on by abseiling down Northampton’s 400ft national lift tower, raising more than £1,700 for Vision Aid Overseas (VAO).
Abby Peters, who recently qualified as an optometrist at Specsavers in Broughton Shopping Park, completed the highest abseil in the UK to raise money and beat her phobia.
Peters says: ‘I have always been scared of heights so to face my fears head on was a great personal achievement for me. I feel very passionately about the work VAO does, and all the donations and support from friends, family and colleagues gave me the confidence I needed to do this.’
