Optometrist David Good has foregone his summer holiday this year to take on the gruelling Zurich Ironman event.
The 140-mile triathlon will include a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile cycle and full marathon run. Good said his current routine consisted of waking up between 5 and 5:30am to fit in a combination of work plus 12 hours' training each week.
He is looking to raise £10,000 for the National Eye Research Centre, saying: 'Seeing the impact that sight loss has on people's lives has spurred me on to do what I can to make a difference.' Donations can be made here.
