Organisers of Optrafair have distanced themselves from unaffiliated firms it accused of trying to deceive attendees.

The Federation of Manufacturing Opticians (FMO) and Optrafair organising team warned exhibitors against signing up to a Mexico-based company Optra Exhibitions UK London, which could not be contacted for comment. It said a free listing in a directory was being offered, but in the small print was a legal contract for three years costing €1,271 a year.

'This Mexican-based company do not have any connection with the Optrafair exhibition and is not supported by the FMO or NEC Managed Events. It is one of a growing number of potential organisations who may try to deceive you via unofficial show guide entry requests,' a statement by the organisers said.
