Exhibition space at April’s Optrafair is now 70 per cent booked but potential exhibitors can be accommodated in a range of locations according to show owner, the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians.

Space close to the ACE lecture campus, the entrances, and within the trendy Boulevard area is popular, but the new Manufacturers’ Pavilion for smaller exhibitors, with a starting price of just £950, is also attracting interest.

Essex-based Premiere Optical, one of few UK manufacturers of bespoke frames, has been attracted to Optrafair for the first time, thanks to the launch of this new section of the show.

‘We offer 400 different acetate colours and we’ll be showing some of the different stages of acetate frame production at Optrafair,’ said managing director James Berryman.

Another niche frame supplier, Crystal Optic, will be marketing its modular titanium frame.

‘So many frames come in just one size and as an optometrist I am really fed up with this,’ said managing director Colin Hynes. ‘This modular frame kit offers six different bridge widths, extra long sides and an anodising kit to create 100 different colours.

The aim is to make the perfect fitting pair of glasses for everyone.’
Other exhibitors include Aberystwyth lab Aber Optical, equipment repairer Frost Optical Services and Derwent Optical, distributor of Arkadius Goggles (pictured).
