Essilor UK has formed a partnership with Orcam to bring the Myeye low vision aid to independent opticians in the UK.
The Myeye device is a small camera that clips onto the arm of the patient’s glasses, and is connected by a thin cable to a portable computer designed to fit in their pocket. To recognise an object or text, the wearer points at it with their finger and the device then reads aloud the words or names the object pointed at.
‘It has proven to be a life-changing product to many with low vision. Helping them to regain their independence and confidence in doing everyday tasks that the rest of us take for granted,’ said Essilor.
