Park Vision spotlights sports services

Nottingham-based independent Park Vision has got into the Olympic mood and highlighted its sports vision services to patients.

Michelle Beach, founder of Park Vision, said that all athletes competing in Paris were using their vision to get over the finish line. Whether it was aiming, eye dominance, depth perception, stereopsis, tracking or peripheral vision, Beach said it all informed where to put hands, when to move, where to steer a boat, direct a horse and when to push harder or get out of trouble.

‘Sport is one of the biggest and most diverse occupations and differs from most in the level of visual demand, which is often extreme. All sporting decisions are made from visual cues and could mean the difference between a win or a loss, a precise tackle or a penalty, safety or injury,’ Beach said.

She added that a sports vision assessment at Park Vision involved a multi-faceted approach of binocular harmony, eye health, psychology and a great relationship between the optometrist, dispensing optician and the athlete.

Beach said that while most of her patients were not training for Olympic glory, they were embracing their inner athlete and should think about sports vision correction options.
