Police suspect inside job for series of thefts

Police investigating a series of thefts from practices in the Derbyshire area suspect that someone from the profession could be involved in knowingly handling the stolen goods.
According to DS Dave Sismey, the investigation has not ruled out the possibility that the 'unusual' series of thefts from outlets in Long Eaton involves an individual from inside optics.
'We made some enquiries, and our conclusion is that this probably is the case,' he said. 'They've got to have a market for this sort of product somewhere.'
Thefts of optical goods being investigated in the area date back as long ago as November 28 last year when £3,750 worth of designer frames were stolen from Boots Opticians, Long Eaton.
Earlier this year on January 17, the outlet was the scene of another theft in which frames to the value of £1,850 were taken.
Police believe it was the same man Ð white, clean shaven, in his early 30s, 5ft 10in, stocky build with dark collar length hair Ð that entered the practice again on June 13 and took 25 frames to a value of £4,490.
In an attempt to help the police optician published two CCTV photos of a man the Derbyshire Police want to question in our August 2 edition.
Now the force has turned to the journal again. Another man captured on camera is wanted for questioning in relation to a theft at Jaysons Opticians in Long Eaton. A white man, with short greying hair, this time in his late 30s is under suspicion after £2,000 worth of frames, including Armani, dkny, and Calvin Klein, were taken from the practice on July 19.
Anyone with information regarding these incidents should call Derbyshire Police on 01773 570 100.
