PPG issues warning over Thai flood

Lens group PPG Industries has declared a 'force majeure for certain optical products' following the recent floods in Thailand.

The flooding has impacted PPG's manufacturing and distribution operations in the country, the company announced, with production suspensions at its Solarlens facilities in Bang Pa-In and Lat Krabang.

In addition, it said that its Transitions Optical facility in Chon Buri has been adversely impacted by reduced operations by several customers located in flooded districts, but remains open.

Richard Elias, PPG senior vice president of optical and specialty materials, explained: 'The significant flooding has severely affected our ability to provide products to our customers. This is due both to the direct impact on our facilities and certain disruptions in the optical supply chain.
