Practitioners reluctant to upgrade contact lenses

A 2014 survey conducted by Optician and CooperVision showed that practitioners were selective in their approach to upgrading and, on average, offered about two-thirds of eligible patients (64 per cent) the latest technology.1

Nearly half (49 per cent) said they would leave a patient in a contact lens for one or two years before offering them an upgrade to a new product. Only a small minority said they would wait three years or more to offer an upgrade (7 per cent) or wait for the patient to ask for a new lens (7 per cent).
