A refreshed UK Vision Strategy reached Downing Street this week as Prime Minister David Cameron welcomed the new priorities.

Cameron said: 'Any loss or impairment of vision can reduce a person's quality of life substantially and demands for eye care services will increase as people live longer.

The UK Vision Strategy 2013-2018, launched on June 11 at the Vision UK conference in Westminster, outlines three priority outcomes and was also backed by the Optical Confederation. Outcomes included empowering people to look after their vision, timely treatment for eye conditions and ensuring an inclusive society for those with sight loss.
