Understanding how to eliminate contact lens-related microbial keratitis was the topic for the ninth BCLA Pioneers Lecture, delivered by Professor Fiona Stapleton at the Royal Society of Medicine in London last week.
Her studies had shown that incidence rates were not appreciably different with new lens types and modalities. Daily disposables limited disease severity and storage case practice had the largest impact on disease load with reusable lenses.
