Return of the PAC

Specsavers PAC took place in-person on October 16

Over 1,500 eye care professionals attended the first in-person Specsavers Professional Advancement Conference (PAC) at the ICC in Birmingham on October 16.

The event featured international speakers who shared their expertise with attendees who worked at the multiple, as well as delegates who worked elsewhere.

Grant Duncan, director of professional development for clinical services at Specsavers, said: ‘Key takeaways from the conference included foundations of myopia management, enhanced optical services and referral quality, particularly related to optical coherence tomography, as well as infection control in domiciliary services.’

Specsavers founders Doug and Dame Mary Perkins awarded medals at PAC in recognition of clinical excellence and outstanding clinical customer care by Specsavers colleagues across the UK and Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Ireland.

Irinder Khakha from Hayes, Andy Britton at Haverfordwest, Ian Morris in Wick, Michael Foster from Magherafelt, and Martin O’Brien in Wexford received the Doug Perkins medal for clinical excellence in optics, while Kathryn Bye in York won the domiciliary medal.

The Dame Mary Perkins medal for outstanding clinical customer care was awarded to Jack Collins from Atherstone, the Specsavers Pontypridd team, Julia Campbell at St Andrews, the Specsavers Larne team, and the Crumlin team, while Graeme McKenzie in Dundee won the domiciliary medal.
