Ribbon cut at Newmedica Shrewsbury

The Mayor of Shrewsbury attended the opening of Newmedica’s new facility

The Mayor of Shrewsbury attended the opening of Newmedica’s new facility in Shrewsbury business park to cut the ribbon and officially open the clinic.

Councillor Julian Dean, the mayor, was joined for the ribbon cutting by Newmedica’s Shrewsbury team and Doug and Dame Mary Perkins, founders of Specsavers, pictured above.

Dean commented: ‘I was delighted to be invited to open the new clinic, which I’m sure will be a massive asset to the health system locally after a really tough year.’

Newmedica’s new site has been staffed by an all-female team of partners and planned to offer NHS and private treatments for cataract surgery and aftercare, YAG laser treatment, medical retina clinic and general eye surgery.

The company said it hoped the clinic would reduce waiting times for patients requiring essential eye surgery across Shropshire and further afield.
