Ronnie Bottomley died suddenly at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness on November 16.

After qualifying from Glasgow in 1973, Bottomley undertook his pre-reg placement in Greenock before moving to work in Inverness.

He had worked with Dollond & Aitchison in Inverness for approximately 30 years and in that time supervised many pre-reg optometrists.

Bottomley was well known as a caring and thoughtful person and many of his work colleagues enjoyed his dry and quick-witted sense of humour.

Outside of work he was a keen golfer, musician and gardener. He will be greatly missed by his wife and family and also by his colleagues in the Highland area.
