Maui Jim is a claiming a world first for its polarised, single gradient sunglass lens which can be prescription glazed into most of its Rx sunglass frames.
The lens is based around Maui's Evolution 1.6 index material which it says offers the benefits of super thin glass and the impact resistance of polycarbonate. This technology has been teamed up with MauiPassport digitally compensated freeform manufacturing and MauiGradient which offers more tint protection at the top of the lens where it is needed most.
Four colour options are being offered with the active lifestyle lens including neutral grey for bright days, bronze for variable light conditions, a high performance lens and Maui Rose for fast moving sports. As well as colour enhancing rare earth materials all of the lenses use Maui's patented polarising technology which cuts glare and UV from the front and back of the lens. A nine-layer process also offers oleophobic coating and scratch resistance.
