Contact lens firm Sauflon has added a reusable silicone hydrogel multifocal to its Clariti range of products.
The monthly Clariti multifocal follows the launch of Clariti 1day multifocal earlier this year (13.04.12), with the brand also available in sphere and toric designs.
Sauflon said an ever-ageing population had resulted in a greater proportion of patients reaching presbyopia, but translated to a rapid decrease in the number of contact lens wearers and a disproportionately large increase in the number of spectacles wearers.
It said drop-outs were mainly due to existing contact lenses no longer meeting their lifestyle and vision needs, but said that the Clariti multifocal provided all-day comfort.
The company added: 'Clariti multifocal combines the ground-breaking clariti 1day multifocal optical design with Sauflon's manufacturing process, and patented AquaGen technology. This ensures a highly wettable lens surface which, combined with the low modulus and high water content helps enhance the biocompatibility with the ocular surface and provides exceptional comfort that lasts all day.'
Clariti multifocal monthly has been made available in all powers +6.00 to -6.00 (0.25DS steps) and -6.50 to -8.00 (0.50DS steps) in both low and high adds.
