Scrivens discounts designer frames via press scheme

Scrivens Opticians has teamed up with the Birmingham Evening Mail to offer readers discounts on its full range of sunglasses and frames, including designer names such as Ray-Ban, Armani and Calvin Klein.

The 10 per cent discount is available to readers who have signed up for the newspaper's Accumulator Gold card. This entitles them to discounts from various retailers in the Evening Mail catchment area. Scrivens group marketing manager Rob Warner says 60,000-70,000 people have a card, which has brought extra business to the practice's 24 branches in the West Midlands. 'We joined the Accumulator last year due to the promise of exposure we would get,' he adds. 'That didn't happen, although it did generate more business. 'We are featuring more in the newspaper this year and it is proving a very cost-effective way of advertising. I have also negotiated a deal where we will get increased exposure as the year progresses. It is certainly worthwhile.'
