Scrivens Opticians & Hearing Care has acquired 19 branches from Rayner Opticians for an undisclosed amount.
All of the practices Scrivens has acquired will remain open, the company said, with rebranding due for completion by June. The deal took Scrivens into untapped regions including the North East, North Wales and Herefordshire. The Herefordshire practice is on Broad Street Bromyard.
It followed the sale of 65 Rayner practices to Vision Express last month (16.01.14) with 38 remaining open but 27 closed down. Rayner has 20 high street practices left following this week’s sale, while Scrivens now has 171 locations.
Scrivens chairman and chief executive Nicholas Georgevic said: ‘We have been steadily growing our business through strategic acquisitions over the last decade, adding a total of 38 branches in the last five years alone. We are delighted that this portfolio of Rayner branches will join our “family”, securing the future for this dedicated team of employees.
