Showcase Shamir Spark Mi device Lens manufacturer Shamir has launched a new tabletop device for ECPs to compile patient measurements.

Designed to look like a tabletop mirror, the Spark Mi device includes camera, a measuring tool and an interface with the practice computer. Patients look into the mirror while the practitioner captures a single image.

The image appears on the practice computer straight away and provides the PD measurement. The user can then gather all the other measurements needed from the computer: fitting height, frame box, DBL, BVD, panorameter and pantoscopic tilt. The device also works with tinted sun lenses.

‘Until now, measuring a customer for a new pair of glasses meant holding rulers in front of their eyes or having them wear funny gadgets on their chosen frame. It’s a time-consuming process and uncomfortable for the customer,’ said a Shamir spokesperson.
