Silhouette’s new Linz lens lab is a sensation

Austrian frame manufacturer Silhouette has opened a prescription lens facility at its headquarters in Linz.

The new lab will allow the company to offer a complete spectacle solution, which has been named Vision Sensation. The company said it would focus on individualised premium progressive and single vision lenses and stay away from the stock lens segment of the market.

‘It has always been standard in our industry that the lens supplier doesn’t know the design parameters of the frame and the frame supplier doesn’t know the parameters of the lens supplier,’ said Silhouette CEO Jan Rosenberg.

‘We are now taking an innovative step by bringing two previously separate areas together. The most important advantage is that we know the parameters and requirements of both sides and can therefore create spectacles perfectly tailor-made for the wearer.’
